A 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck several parts of Balochistan on Sunday evening, sending mild tremors across Quetta, Kalat, and nearby regions. The quake occurred at around 6:29 PM local time, with a depth of approximately 25 kilometers, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Residents reported feeling noticeable shaking that lasted for a few seconds, prompting many to rush out of their homes and offices. However, authorities have confirmed that no casualties or significant damage have been reported so far.
Emergency response teams were immediately placed on alert following the tremor, and officials are conducting surveys to ensure all districts remain safe. The PDMA advised citizens to stay calm and follow safety procedures in case of aftershocks.
Experts noted that Balochistan lies in an active seismic zone, where minor to moderate earthquakes occur frequently due to regional tectonic activity.
