Producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have been legally charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly including inappropriate scenes involving minors in the ALT Balaji web series “Gandi Baat.” The Mumbai Police have registered the case against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor, and Shobha Kapoor at the MHB police station.
The allegations pertain to Season 6 of “Gandi Baat,” which aired on the OTT platform between February and April 2021. According to the complaint filed, the series featured obscene scenes involving minor girls. Notably, the specific episode that has drawn scrutiny is no longer available for streaming on the platform.
The complaint outlines that young actors were depicted in school uniforms while engaging in inappropriate and obscene conduct. In line with the court’s directive, the police have invoked several provisions of the POCSO Act, including sections 13 and 15, as well as section 67(a) of the Information Technology Act, the Women’s Prohibition Act, and sections 292, 293, and 295(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These allegations are aimed at addressing the exploitation of minors and ensuring their protection from obscene material.
As of now, there has been no official response from ALTBalaji or the producers concerning the ongoing case.
