Federal Minister for Energy, Awais Leghari, revealed that electricity prices could drop by Rs10 to 12 per unit due to ongoing negotiations with the IMF and IPPs.
These discussions have already saved the country Rs1,100 billion, benefiting consumers with lower tariffs.
Leghari also addressed issues with K-Electric’s multi-year tariff, emphasizing that it should be reduced. Efforts to combat electricity theft in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are ongoing.
Additionally, a recent Nepra decision cut tariffs by up to 75 paisa per unit for DISCOs and K-Electric, effective in January 2025.
