Dhaka, May 20, 2025 – Elon Musk’s satellite internet company, Starlink, has officially launched its services in Bangladesh, marking a major step toward bridging the digital divide in the country.
Operated by Musk’s aerospace firm SpaceX, Starlink delivers high-speed broadband internet through a constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. With this launch, residents in both remote villages and urban centers of Bangladesh can now access fast and reliable internet, often in areas where traditional infrastructure has failed to reach.
The service is expected to significantly boost digital connectivity, especially in underdeveloped regions, supporting online education, telemedicine, and e-commerce opportunities.
Speaking about the rollout, a spokesperson from Starlink stated:
“We’re excited to bring high-speed internet to Bangladesh, empowering its people with better access to the global digital economy.”
The announcement comes after Bangladesh’s Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) granted Starlink the necessary approvals earlier this year.
Early users in regions like Chittagong Hill Tracts, Barisal, and rural Sylhet have reported dramatic improvements in internet speed and reliability.
The subscription kit, which includes a satellite dish, router, and mounting hardware, is now available for order via Starlink’s official website, with monthly plans starting at approximately BDT 9,000.
As Starlink expands its footprint in South Asia, the move is seen as a milestone in Bangladesh’s digital transformation, potentially narrowing the urban-rural digital gap and creating new opportunities for growth and development.
