Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, is awaiting government approval to launch in Pakistan. Musk confirmed on social media that regulatory clearance is still pending.
The Ministry of IT & Telecom stated that Starlink has yet to secure a license due to non-compliance with technical regulations, including concerns over interference with existing satellite systems. Despite registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in 2021 and applying for a license in 2022, the approval process remains delayed.
With new space regulations introduced in 2024, Starlink must meet all requirements before launching services in Pakistan. No official launch date has been confirmed.
