BRUSSELS – 17 October 2025:
In a major diplomatic development, European nations, key Arab states, the United States, and Canada have expressed readiness to collectively fund a $70 billion plan aimed at rebuilding Gaza’s war-torn infrastructure and restoring essential services.
According to diplomatic sources, the proposed reconstruction package — currently under discussion with UN agencies and regional partners — focuses on housing, healthcare, power grids, and education systems destroyed in recent conflicts.
Officials from the European Union and Arab League are said to be working closely to ensure the funds are managed transparently, with strict monitoring to guarantee that the aid reaches civilians in need.
A joint statement released by EU and Arab representatives emphasized that “reconstruction must go hand in hand with lasting peace and political stability.”
Meanwhile, Washington and Ottawa have reportedly backed the initiative, calling it a “shared humanitarian responsibility” and a critical step toward regional recovery.
Diplomats estimate that if approved, the $70 billion fund could begin disbursement in early 2026, marking one of the largest coordinated rebuilding efforts in the region’s history.
