Chandigarh was rattled by explosions outside two prominent clubs late Monday night — Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by rapper Badshah, and De Orra Club — Indian media reported.
According to NDTV, CCTV footage captured a man hurling suspected crude bombs outside the establishments before fleeing the scene. The blasts caused significant damage, shattering windows, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Chandigarh police are investigating the incident as an attempted extortion case. Senior officers, including the senior superintendent of police (SSP), rushed to the site to assess the situation.
Authorities are also exploring the possibility of a dispute between the clubs’ partners, suggesting another angle to the investigation.
Seville Bar and Lounge, one of the targeted venues, was launched by rapper Badshah in December 2023. The 39-year-old artist also co-owns two other eateries, Sago Spicy Symphony and Sidera.
As investigations continue, the incident has raised concerns over safety in the city’s nightlife hubs.
