In a significant move, the federal government has announced an increase in the petroleum levy by Rs20, setting it at Rs80 per liter for High-Speed Diesel Oil (HSDO) and Motor Gasoline, up from the previous Rs60 per liter in FY24.
Moreover, the maximum levy on Light Diesel Oil (LDO), High Octane Blending Component (HOBC), and E-10 gasoline has also been raised to Rs75 per liter.
While these adjustments reflect an effort to balance economic considerations, the levy on Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) remains unchanged at Rs50 per liter. Similarly, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) produced within Pakistan is set at Rs30,000 per metric ton.
The decision, aimed at stabilizing the national economy and addressing fiscal challenges, is expected to have wide-ranging implications for various sectors, including transportation, industry, and households.
