Dera Ismail Khan, Feb 2 – A tragic bomb blast in the Kalachi Mor area of Dera Ismail Khan claimed the lives of four personnel from the Balochistan Levies Force and their civilian driver on Saturday. The attack, which targeted their vehicle, resulted in a devastating fire that left all five individuals fatally burned.
According to local authorities, the deceased have been identified as Naib Risaldar Noor Ahmad Kaakar, and constables Rashid Zaman, Daud Khan, and Bilal Ahmad, all from the Khanozai Levies Force in Pishin district, along with their civilian driver.
The Levies Force confirmed that the team was on a mission to recover a stolen truck that had been reported missing on January 13. After receiving information from local police about the truck’s recovery, the personnel departed for Dera Ismail Khan in a private vehicle on Saturday morning.
However, their journey turned fatal when they were ambushed by unidentified assailants. Reports indicate that the attackers first opened fire on the vehicle before detonating an explosive device, leading to a catastrophic blaze.
Following the tragic incident, officials stated that the bodies will be transported to Balochistan after completing the necessary legal and medical formalities.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, while security forces are on high alert in the region. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
This incident underscores the persistent security challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in the region, with targeted attacks on security forces continuing to pose a significant threat.
