Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Ijaz Butt, passed away at the age of 85 in Lahore after battling a prolonged illness. The news of his demise was confirmed by his son, Arif Saeed. Ijaz Butt served as the PCB chairman from 2008 to 2011, a period marked by multiple changes in the team management. The PCB expressed deep sadness over his passing, extending condolences to his family and friends. In a detailed statement, the PCB highlighted Butt’s cricketing journey, where he represented Pakistan in eight Tests between 1959 and 1962, and contributed to the team’s success during his chairmanship, particularly the ICC T20 World Cup win in 2009. Butt was a wicketkeeper-batsman during his playing days and had a notable Test career, scoring 279 runs in eight matches at an average of 19.92. He also featured in 67 first-class matches, amassing more than 3,000 runs.
