Karachi, September 9, 2024 – Athar Waqar Azeem, the distinguished producer and former director of current affairs at Pakistan Television (PTV), has passed away in Karachi. He was 76 years old.
Azeem died of a cardiac arrest, marking the end of a remarkable career that spanned over fifty years. His tenure at PTV included notable roles as the director of current affairs and the general manager of the Karachi Center. In addition to his contributions to broadcasting, Azeem was also known for his exceptional singing talent.
Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, expressed profound sorrow at the news of Azeem’s passing. In a heartfelt condolence message, Minister Tarar conveyed his sympathy to Azeem’s family and acknowledged the significant impact of his contributions to Pakistan Television. “Athar Waqar Azeem’s services to Pakistan Television will always be remembered,” the minister said, reflecting on Azeem’s enduring legacy in the field of media.
