Former Speaker of the Sindh Assembly and senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader, Agha Siraj Durrani, has passed away, party sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, Durrani had been unwell for some time and was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi, where he breathed his last. The exact cause of death has not yet been officially disclosed.
A veteran politician and a prominent figure in Sindh’s political landscape, Agha Siraj Durrani served multiple terms as a member of the Sindh Assembly and held the position of Speaker from 2013 to 2023. He was known for his strong oratory, political resilience, and deep association with the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Condolences poured in from across the political spectrum, with leaders from various parties expressing grief and paying tribute to his contributions to provincial politics. The PPP leadership described his passing as “a great loss for Sindh and for democratic politics in Pakistan.”
