Four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were injured in a bomb blast near their vehicle in Duki district on Saturday, according to officials. The attack occurred when an improvised explosive device (IED), planted by unknown miscreants, detonated as the FC patrol was passing through the Mandaytak area.
A senior security official confirmed that the soldiers were on patrol to ensure the safety of trucks transporting coal from the Duki coal fields to Punjab when the explosion occurred. “Four FC soldiers were injured in the blast,” the official stated. Following the incident, FC personnel and local police rushed to the scene to provide assistance, and the injured were promptly transported to the district hospital in Duki for medical treatment.
In the aftermath, a bomb disposal squad arrived at the site to gather evidence. Preliminary investigations indicated that the IED was detonated using a remote control device. Security measures in Duki, a region rich in coal, have been heightened following a series of violent attacks on miners in recent months. Notably, on October 11, armed assailants killed 21 coal miners and injured six others in the area, also damaging equipment and machinery at ten mining sites.
In a separate incident, the bodies of two brothers were discovered in the Splingi area of Mastung on Saturday. The victims, who had been kidnapped by unidentified armed men while attending a wedding, were found with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Local residents alerted authorities to the presence of the bodies, prompting a response from Levies personnel, who recovered the remains and transported them to the district hospital for autopsy.
One of the victims has been identified as Khushhal Bangulzai, while the identity of his brother remains unconfirmed at this time. After completing the necessary medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their family.
The recent incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, as authorities continue to grapple with rising violence against civilians and security forces alike.
