In a move aimed at easing the burden on consumers, the government has announced substantial cuts in petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices effective from June 15. According to the latest notification, petrol prices are set to decrease by Rs10.20, bringing the new rate to Rs258.16 per litre. Similarly, HSD prices will see a reduction of Rs2.33, settling at Rs267.89 per litre.
The decision comes as a second round of relief within the month, following earlier cuts implemented on June 1. Kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO) prices, however, will remain unchanged at Rs171.61 and Rs157.32 per litre, respectively.
In a parallel effort to bolster industrial growth and exports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also announced a significant reduction in electricity tariffs for the industrial sector. The new rate of Rs34.99 per unit marks a reduction of Rs10.69 per unit, aiming to stimulate production and enhance competitiveness in global markets.
These measures are part of broader governmental strategies to mitigate economic pressures and promote sustainable growth across key sectors of the economy.
