In a move aimed at providing relief to consumers amid fluctuating global oil prices, the government of Pakistan has decided to keep the price of petrol unchanged for the next fortnight. However, a significant reduction of Rs. 10 per liter has been announced for diesel, effective immediately.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that petrol will remain at Rs. 307 per liter, while the new price for diesel will be Rs. 314 per liter. The decision comes as a result of a careful review of global crude oil prices and the government’s efforts to strike a balance between providing relief to consumers and managing the fiscal situation.
This adjustment is expected to ease the financial burden on consumers, particularly in the transport and agriculture sectors, which are heavily reliant on diesel. However, the unchanged petrol price is likely to maintain the cost of transportation for other sectors.
The government has also assured that it will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take necessary steps to ensure price stability while safeguarding the interests of both consumers and the national economy.
