Islamabad: In a welcome move for consumers, the government has announced a significant reduction in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices ahead of the New Year, according to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
The new rates, effective January 2025, reflect a decrease of Rs4 per kilogram, bringing the price to Rs250.28 per kilogram.
Revised cylinder rates have also been outlined in the notification. Domestic LPG cylinders will now cost Rs2,953, marking a Rs47 reduction, while commercial cylinders are set to be priced at Rs11,363, down by Rs182.
OGRA further revealed that the official production cost of LPG has been slashed by Rs4,020 per metric ton, making the fuel more accessible to consumers across the country.
This reduction comes as a relief for households and businesses reliant on LPG, particularly amidst rising inflationary pressures.
