The federal government is finalizing plans to hand over operational control of Islamabad International Airport to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under a long-term public-private partnership agreement.
According to official sources, the move is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to enhance airport services, bring in foreign investment, and improve overall management. The agreement will allow a UAE-based company to handle key airport operations, including terminal management, ground services, and commercial activities.
Officials from the Ministry of Aviation confirmed that talks with UAE authorities are in the advanced stages, and a formal announcement is expected soon. The arrangement will not impact Pakistan’s sovereignty or security, as air traffic control and immigration will remain under government control.
The government hopes this partnership will help modernize the airport, increase revenue, and offer better services to passengers.
