The federal government has officially transferred control of the Green Line and Orange Line bus services to the Sindh government, marking a significant shift in the province’s public transport management.
The decision aims to improve operational efficiency and integrate these services into Sindh’s broader transportation network. Sindh Chief Minister and transport officials have welcomed the move, promising better facilities and enhanced service quality for commuters.
The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, which began operations in 2022, has been a crucial part of Karachi’s public transport system, providing a modern commuting option for thousands daily. The Orange Line, now part of the Abdul Sattar Edhi BRT corridor, further expands connectivity in the city.
Authorities have assured that the transition will not disrupt services, and efforts will be made to address challenges such as maintenance, route expansions, and ticketing improvements.
