Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has announced that Gwadar is on track to becoming a world-class port city, teeming with growth and development opportunities. During a press briefing, Minister Iqbal commended the substantial progress achieved through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), underscoring Gwadar’s strategic significance.
Minister Iqbal highlighted that CPEC is pivotal in transforming Gwadar into a crucial port city that will drive economic development. He noted that China has made substantial contributions to various regions in Pakistan, including Gwadar. These contributions encompass the construction of advanced port facilities and the promotion of socioeconomic growth across the region.
One of the notable projects spearheaded by Chinese investment is a state-of-the-art hospital in Gwadar, which provides medical services comparable to those available in major cities like Karachi and Lahore. This hospital is part of the broader efforts to uplift the city’s infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents.
“The development of Gwadar under CPEC exemplifies how international cooperation can yield significant local benefits,” said Minister Iqbal. He further elaborated that the new infrastructure and facilities are expected to create numerous job opportunities, stimulate the local economy, and enhance the overall quality of life for Gwadar’s residents.
Expressing optimism about Gwadar’s future, Minister Iqbal emphasized that with ongoing support and development, Gwadar is set to evolve into a major hub for trade and industry, attracting global investments. This transformation is anticipated to have a positive ripple effect on the entire region, establishing Gwadar as a beacon of progress and development.
As Gwadar continues to develop, it is expected to draw significant attention from international investors, further cementing its role as a key economic driver in Pakistan.
