Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has made a strong statement rejecting the idea of a two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict, declaring that “there is only one state, and that is Palestine.”
Speaking at a solidarity rally in Karachi, organized to express support for the people of Gaza, Hafiz Naeem emphasized that the struggle for Palestinian freedom is not a political dispute but a moral and humanitarian cause. He criticized global powers and international organizations for what he described as their “hypocrisy and silence” in the face of Israel’s continued aggression.
“The blood of innocent Palestinians is not a political debate — it is a test of humanity. We reject any so-called two-state compromise that legitimizes occupation,” he said to the crowd.
The JI leader further called on Muslim-majority countries to take a united stance, both diplomatically and economically, against Israel’s actions. He urged Pakistan’s government to intensify its advocacy at the United Nations and to lead calls for an international boycott of Israeli products and supporters of the occupation.
Hafiz Naeem’s statement aligns with JI’s long-standing position in support of a single, independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. The remarks come amid heightened tensions and renewed calls from world leaders to revisit the two-state proposal as a path to peace.
Thousands attended the Karachi rally, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans of solidarity. Participants also observed prayers for those killed in Gaza, where recent reports describe worsening humanitarian conditions due to ongoing blockades.
📢 Broader Context
The two-state solution — which envisions independent Israeli and Palestinian states coexisting peacefully — has been a central point of debate for decades. However, many Palestinian and pro-resistance groups have increasingly rejected it, arguing that it legitimizes occupation and apartheid-like control.
Hafiz Naeem’s remarks have reignited political discussion in Pakistan about the country’s official diplomatic stance, which has consistently supported Palestinian sovereignty and opposed normalization with Israel.
