In a move to enhance convenience and affordability for Hajj pilgrims, the Director-General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, has announced the establishment of special counters at all regional offices, including the headquarters and international passport offices. These counters will ensure the delivery of passports to Hajj pilgrims within 24 hours.
Pilgrims will receive priority service, streamlining the process as part of a broader effort to facilitate the sacred journey.
Hajj Becomes More Affordable with Reduced Airfare
In a separate development, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has successfully negotiated a reduction in airfare for the 2025 Hajj season. Pilgrims will pay $800 for their flights, down from $850 in 2024.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will transport 35,000 pilgrims at this reduced fare, while Saudi Airlines will cater to an equal number. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on pilgrims, many of whom have faced challenges with rising travel and accommodation costs in recent years.
Hajj 2025 Application Process Begins
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has also opened applications for the 2025 Government Hajj Scheme. Applications can be submitted at 15 nominated banks nationwide until December 3, 2024.
The total quota for Pakistani pilgrims is set at 89,605, with applicants required to deposit Rs200,000 as an initial payment. The draw for successful applicants will be held on December 6, followed by a second installment collection from February 1 to 10, 2025.
The Government Hajj Scheme offers a comprehensive package, covering air travel, food, accommodation, training, and vaccinations, ensuring a hassle-free experience for pilgrims.
These initiatives collectively underscore Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating and reducing the cost of this significant spiritual journey.
