The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for killing five Israeli soldiers in Gaza. According to a statement from the Brigades, their fighters launched an attack on three Israeli soldiers hiding in the Jabalia refugee camp, killing them with knives and seizing their weapons.
In a subsequent operation, the fighters targeted a house where Israeli soldiers were stationed, resulting in the deaths of two more soldiers.
As the conflict escalates, Israeli airstrikes continue in Gaza, with 77 Palestinians martyred in the past 24 hours.
Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), expressed disappointment over Sweden’s decision to halt aid to the agency, which provides crucial assistance in Gaza. Meanwhile, UNICEF reported that children in Gaza are facing severe hunger, cold weather, illnesses, and deep psychological trauma due to the ongoing violence.
