Hassan Nawaz Sharif, the son of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has been officially declared a “deliberate tax defaulter” by the UK’s HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). He has been found liable for a tax default amounting to £9.4 million, with an additional penalty of £5.2 million, bringing the total financial burden to £14.6 million.
The tax default pertains to the period between April 6, 2015, and April 5, 2016, during which Hassan Nawaz reportedly failed to meet his tax obligations. As a result, he has been included in the UK government’s official list of deliberate tax defaulters, an enforcement measure aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability.
This development follows a recent decision by the London High Court, which declared Hassan Nawaz bankrupt in April 2024 due to unpaid debts and liabilities. His case highlights a growing crackdown on high-profile individuals evading taxes, reinforcing the UK government’s stance on financial accountability and tax compliance.
