Karachi, July 18, 2024 – Hospitals and medical camps in Karachi are dealing with a large number of patients seeking help from the intense heatwave in the city. Officials say two people died from heat stroke at Civil Hospital.
A medical camp on MA Jinnah Road helped around 400 patients. The Edhi Foundation assisted 616 people, and the Chhipa Foundation helped 209 patients during the Ashura procession.
The Sindh Rescue Team 1122 transported over 500 patients in their ambulances, with three sent to Civil Hospital for more treatment. The hospital’s emergency ward treated 22 patients affected by the heat.
Dr. Shahid Rasool from Jinnah Hospital advised people to stay hydrated by drinking cool drinks and using wet towels when going outside in the extreme heat.
Authorities are asking people to take care of themselves and stay cool as the heatwave continues.
