Punjab, July 4, 2024 — The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert forecasting heavy monsoon rains across Punjab until July 7. The affected districts include Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin, where significant rainfall is expected.
In addition, areas such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and Galiyat are likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
While current water levels in Punjab’s major rivers—Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej—are reported as normal, a flood warning has been issued specifically for the Chenab River at Marala due to the potential for moderate to high flooding.
The PDMA has advised residents to exercise caution, particularly avoiding river crossings and contact with electrical infrastructure during these weather conditions.
