Good news is on the horizon for Pakistan’s fuel consumers as petroleum prices are expected to decrease beginning November 1st. Sources within the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) suggest that this decrease could be significant, driven by a reduction in global oil prices and a slight improvement in the Pakistani rupee’s exchange rate.
Preliminary estimates indicate that petrol prices could decrease by around PKR 15 per liter, with similar reductions anticipated for high-speed diesel. These potential adjustments are still subject to final assessments, but if confirmed, they would offer much-needed relief for households and businesses facing rising costs across various sectors.
OGRA is expected to announce the official prices by the end of October, once international rates and exchange rates are fully factored in. The expected drop in fuel prices would help ease inflationary pressures, with transportation and commodity prices likely to adjust accordingly.
