As buildings trembled and alarms blared during a powerful earthquake in Thailand, a father’s courageous act is capturing hearts across the world.
Amid the panic and crumbling infrastructure, a man was seen sprinting across a cracked and swaying skybridge to reach his wife and young daughter, who were stranded on the other side. Eyewitnesses say the man showed no hesitation despite the bridge’s visible damage and ongoing aftershocks.
The earthquake, which struck northern Thailand early Tuesday morning, measured 6.2 on the Richter scale and caused widespread panic across several cities. While most people sought shelter, this father ran toward danger.
“I could see the bridge was damaged, but my wife and daughter were screaming. I had to get to them,” the man told local media after the incident, his voice shaking with emotion. “Nothing else mattered in that moment.”
Video footage taken by a bystander shows the man navigating falling debris and gaping cracks as he makes his way across the unstable structure. He reached his family safely, embracing them tightly as onlookers applauded.
Local authorities have praised his bravery, warning, however, that such actions are extremely risky. “It’s a miracle he made it across unharmed,” said an emergency services spokesperson.
No casualties have been confirmed as of now, but several buildings suffered structural damage. Emergency response teams are currently assessing the full extent of the quake’s impact.
The father’s bold rescue has since gone viral online, with many hailing him as a “real-life superhero.” For him, though, it was simply the instinct of a parent: “I just needed to make sure they were okay.”
