Islamabad, Pakistan – October 15, 2024 – The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) in Pakistan has been increased by Rs. 5 per liter, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on Monday. The price hike comes as part of the government’s regular adjustment of fuel prices to align with fluctuating global market trends.
With the new adjustment, the cost of HSD now stands at Rs. 325 per liter, up from the previous rate of Rs. 320 per liter. This price change is expected to impact transportation and freight services, leading to potential increases in the cost of goods and services across the country.
The government has cited rising international oil prices and the depreciating value of the Pakistani rupee as key factors contributing to the price increase. Officials have reassured the public that despite the hike, the administration continues to monitor fuel pricing trends globally to mitigate further impacts on consumers.
This latest increase is part of an ongoing trend of fluctuating fuel prices that have been affecting the cost of living for Pakistani citizens in recent months. The adjustment follows a similar rise in petrol prices last week, which also saw a significant upward revision.
Economic analysts have warned that the price hike could further fuel inflation, especially in sectors reliant on diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, such as agriculture, logistics, and manufacturing.
Consumers are urged to stay informed about future price adjustments, with the government expected to review fuel prices again in the coming weeks.
