The district administration of Jamshoro has officially declared Monday, February 17, 2025, as a local holiday to commemorate the 773rd Urs of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The announcement holds great significance for devotees, as thousands have already started arriving in Sehwan Sharif from all corners of Pakistan to participate in the annual celebrations. The Urs will begin on Monday and continue for three days, featuring various events of cultural and spiritual importance, including a literary conference, traditional Sindhi wrestling (Malakhro), and the vibrant Dhamal dance—a hallmark of Qalandari devotion.
To accommodate the massive influx of visitors, the provincial government has established support centers at the shrine, ensuring smooth facilitation for devotees.
The Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is one of the largest religious gatherings in the country, observed annually from Shaban 18 to 20 at Sehwan Sharif. Pilgrims from Sindh, Punjab, and beyond travel to the shrine to pay homage, reinforcing Pakistan’s rich cultural and spiritual diversity.
