New York, November 5, 2025: Zohran Mamdani, a New York State Assembly member, has reaffirmed his pride in his Muslim identity, saying that his faith continues to guide his values and commitment to public service.
Speaking after his recent re-election victory, Mamdani said, “I am a Muslim, and I am proud of my identity. My faith teaches me justice, compassion, and solidarity — principles that shape the work I do every day.”
Born in Uganda to Indian parents and raised in the United States, Mamdani — who represents a diverse district in Queens — has become one of the most prominent Muslim voices in American politics. He has been an outspoken advocate for affordable housing, immigrant rights, and racial justice.
