The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the official anthem for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, titled ‘Whatever It Takes.’ Sung by the all-girl pop group W.i.S.H and directed by renowned music director Mikey McCleary, the anthem aims to encapsulate the spirit and excitement of the tournament. The song, composed by Parth Parekh and produced by Bay Music House, is now available on all major streaming platforms.
The anthem’s 1 minute 40 second music video features high-energy choreography by W.i.S.H, alongside clips of iconic moments from previous Women’s T20 World Cups. It showcases the dynamic and thrilling atmosphere of women’s cricket. The ninth edition of the tournament is set to take place in the UAE from October 3 to 20, with 10 teams competing across 23 matches in Dubai and Sharjah.
Claire Furlong, ICC’s General Manager of Marketing and Communications, emphasized the significance of the anthem, saying, “This soundtrack is not only a prelude to the extraordinary talent that will be displayed on the field but also serves to inspire a new generation of heroes in women’s cricket’s growing global fanbase.”
W.i.S.H, the all-girl group behind the song, expressed their pride in contributing to the tournament, stating, “We are incredibly proud to have created the official event song for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup! Cricket unites people across the globe, and it’s an honor to be part of this special occasion.”
Music director Mikey McCleary added, “I feel we have captured the vibe and energy of a T20 World Cup in this song, and I can’t wait for cricket fans worldwide to listen to it.”
As the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 approaches, with teams including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, and India set to compete, the ICC hopes the anthem will further elevate the visibility of women’s cricket and rally support for the teams.
