In a significant development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the sentences of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Begum, in the Toshakhana case. The court, on Monday, also ordered the immediate release of the couple from prison.
Earlier this year, Khan and Begum were sentenced to 14 years in prison in connection to the Toshakhana case. However, the IHC’s decision to suspend their sentences comes as a relief to the couple.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq stated that the appeals in the case will be addressed after the upcoming Eid holidays, allowing both parties time to prepare their arguments.
The Toshakhana case revolves around alleged misuse of government funds and gifts received from foreign dignitaries during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister. The case has garnered significant attention and debate within the country.
The suspension of their sentences marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings, with many eagerly awaiting the next steps in this high-profile case.
