BEIJING – 17 October 2025:
Indonesia has decided to purchase Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets after being impressed by the aircraft’s performance during the ‘Marka-e-Haq’ military exercise, according to defense sources familiar with the matter.
The J-10C, developed by China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, showcased remarkable agility, precision, and combat efficiency during the drills, drawing praise from Indonesian military observers attending the event.
Officials from the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) are reportedly in talks with Chinese defense authorities to finalize a deal that could see 12 to 18 J-10C jets added to Indonesia’s fleet as part of its modernization program.
Defense analysts believe this acquisition will strengthen Indonesia’s air capabilities and deepen its strategic ties with Beijing, as the country seeks advanced yet cost-effective alternatives to Western aircraft.
The J-10C, equipped with an AESA radar, advanced avionics, and PL-15 long-range air-to-air missiles, has gained international attention for its combat performance and versatility.
While official confirmation from both sides is pending, reports suggest that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) could be signed later this year.
