An accountability court in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan in connection to the Toshakhana case and the high-profile £190 million case. The decision came during a hearing conducted by Judge Mohammad Bashir, where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sought Khan’s immediate arrest.
Judge Bashir approved the issuance of the warrants, emphasizing that the jail superintendent must take necessary measures to ensure compliance. Sources reveal that the NAB is poised to promptly execute Khan’s arrest following the warrant issuance, with a team of investigation officers set to arrive at Adiala jail, where Khan is currently located.
Former First Lady Bushra Begum, also implicated in the £190 million case, was summoned earlier today by the NAB. Media reports suggest that her arrest may be imminent. The NAB’s summons extended to Farhat Shahzadi, a former close aide of Bushra, in connection to the same case.
Imran Khan, the former prime minister, has been in custody at Adiala jail since his arrest on August 5 from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore. Initially held at Attock jail, he was later transferred to Adiala jail on September 26.
The developments mark a critical juncture in the legal proceedings surrounding Imran Khan and other individuals implicated in the financial cases. The nation awaits further updates on the unfolding events and potential ramifications for the political landscape.
