ISLAMABAD – 16 October 2025:
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has reportedly offered to assist in resolving the ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions if granted temporary release on parole.
According to party sources, Khan conveyed his willingness to play a mediating role between Islamabad and Kabul, citing his previous diplomatic ties with Afghan leadership and his government’s efforts toward peace in the region.
In his message from prison, Khan emphasized that “peace and dialogue are the only way forward”, offering to contribute to easing border tensions and fostering mutual understanding.
Political analysts view the move as a strategic gesture aimed at restoring Pakistan’s diplomatic channels with Afghanistan, amid recent cross-border clashes and security concerns.
Government officials have yet to comment formally on Khan’s proposal, though some insiders say the suggestion has sparked internal debate within political and security circles.
The former premier remains in custody on multiple legal cases but continues to assert his readiness to support national interests and regional peace initiatives.
