The legal representative of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, it was disclosed that Imran Khan feels he is facing consequences for his unwavering stand of “absolutely not” regarding the use of Pakistani territory for actions inside Afghanistan.
The iconic statement was made during an interview with Jonathan Swan of ‘Axios on HBO’ in 2021 when Imran Khan, then prime minister, categorically stated, “Absolutely not. There is no way we are going to allow any bases, any sort of action from Pakistani territory into Afghanistan.”
Panjutha shared details of his conversation with Imran Khan after a meeting in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, stating that Imran expressed his commitment to genuine freedom, even in the face of potential charges under the Official Secrets Act.
Imran Khan, according to Panjutha, remarked on the selective justice, stating that while conspirators faced no consequences, those who exposed the conspiracy were being punished. He questioned the credibility of witnesses, particularly pointing to Aun Chaudhry, a former close confidante, being presented as a witness.
Addressing the Toshakhana case, Imran Khan claimed that their requests related to the case had been pending in the high court for 12 months without any progress. He questioned the delay in proceedings and withdrawal of requests.
Imran Khan further criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, alleging that Nawaz Sharif has effectively ended his political career.
On the May 9 case, Imran Khan questioned the absence of CCTV footage from the Islamabad High Court and Judicial Complex, demanding a thorough investigation into the events of May 9. The former prime minister insisted on transparency in the proceedings related to this case.
