Lahore, Pakistan – Authorities confirmed on Monday that India has released an increased flow of water into the Sutlej River, raising concerns of flooding in downstream areas of Punjab.
According to the Punjab Irrigation Department, thousands of cusecs of additional water have been discharged, intensifying the flow toward Pakistani territory. Officials have placed flood response teams on alert and directed local administrations to ensure timely evacuations in low-lying villages.
Rescue 1122 and Pakistan Army units have been mobilized to assist in relief operations, while residents living near riverbanks have been urged to shift to safer locations. Farmers in the region also fear widespread crop damage if the water levels continue to rise.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with disaster management teams to minimize potential losses.
