Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has ventured into the political arena by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This move follows his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, who is a BJP Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jamnagar.
Rivaba Jadeja made the announcement through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where she shared images of the couple displaying their new BJP membership cards. The post highlighted the BJP’s ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan’ (membership drive), which began on September 2, with the renewal of Modi’s membership.
Rivaba joined the BJP in 2019 and won the Jamnagar assembly seat in 2022, defeating AAP candidate Karshanbhai Karmur by over 50,000 votes.
Ravindra Jadeja, aged 35, recently retired from T20 internationals following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa. He announced his retirement on Instagram, sharing a photo with the T20 World Cup trophy and expressing gratitude for his career.
Jadeja, a distinguished all-rounder, has played 74 T20I matches since his debut in 2009, scoring 515 runs at a strike rate of 127.16 and taking 54 wickets at an average of 29.85. His retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in his T20 career, though he remains active in other formats of the game.
