In a recent development, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) revealed that the Indian Defence Ministry has formally requested a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).
Speaking to the media on Monday, the DG ISPR stated that the request was made amid escalating tensions in the region, which have resulted in multiple casualties on both sides in recent weeks. He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace but reserves the right to respond to any unprovoked aggression.
“The Indian Defence Ministry reached out with a proposal for a ceasefire,” the military spokesperson confirmed. “Pakistan’s stance has always been one of restraint and dialogue, but we are fully prepared to defend our borders.”
The ceasefire request follows increased international calls for de-escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, particularly from the United Nations and several European countries.
Further discussions are expected between military representatives from both sides in the coming days to work out the modalities of the proposed ceasefire.
