Neeraj Chopra, the reigning World Champion and Tokyo 2020 gold medalist, has been named the best javelin thrower of 2024.
The 27-year-old athlete’s impressive consistency throughout the year earned him this honor, with two wins and four runner-up finishes across six events.
Chopra’s season highlights include a second-place finish at the Doha Diamond League, victories at the Paavo Nurmi Games and the National Federation Senior Athletics Competition, and a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he threw 89.45m.
He also achieved his second-best career throw of 89.49m at the Lausanne Diamond League. Despite Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic record-breaking performance, Chopra’s consistency and achievements led him to the top spot.
