Islamabad – In a major crackdown on profiteering, the Islamabad administration has arrested 102 shopkeepers for overcharging consumers during the holy month of Ramazan. The arrests come as authorities intensify efforts to curb price hikes and ensure fair pricing amid rising inflation.
According to officials, special teams were deployed across various markets and bazaars to monitor price lists and take action against violators. Those found guilty of selling essential commodities at inflated rates were immediately apprehended.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad stated that the administration is committed to protecting consumers from exploitation and strict action will continue against those defying official price regulations. He urged citizens to report instances of overpricing to help maintain market stability during Ramazan.
This crackdown follows increasing complaints from residents about skyrocketing prices of essential items such as flour, sugar, fruits, and vegetables. The administration has vowed to keep market inspections ongoing throughout the month to ensure affordability and availability of goods.
