Islamabad, August 14, 2024 — A major road in Islamabad’s F-10 sector will be named after Arshad Nadeem, the Olympic gold medalist in javelin throw. This honor is in recognition of his historic achievement at the Paris Olympics, where he won gold with a throw of 92.97 meters.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will rename the road that runs from the F-10 roundabout to Khayaban-e-Iqbal (Margalla Road) as a tribute to Nadeem. This decision comes from the federal government’s directive and follows a unanimous resolution by the National Assembly.
In addition to the road naming, President Asif Ali Zardari will award Nadeem a civil honor, and he has also received cash rewards from the provincial and federal governments.
To celebrate Nadeem’s success, Pakistan Post will release a special commemorative stamp on Independence Day. These stamps will be available at General Post Offices (GPOs) in major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Murree, as well as at the Post Mall Gulberg in Lahore. Despite the public holiday on August 14th, these locations will remain open for stamp purchases.
