On the sixth anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has released a stirring new patriotic anthem, Dushmanna Sunn, reaffirming the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to national defense.
Penned by Ahmed Azeem and beautifully composed and performed by Kamranullah Khan, the song pays tribute to the historic events of February 27, 2019, when Pakistan’s military successfully responded to Indian aggression, cementing the day as a symbol of national resilience and military professionalism.
On this day six years ago, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down two Indian fighter jets while repelling a border violation, leading to the capture of Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The event sent a strong message that any breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with decisive retaliation.
The anthem, released on ISPR’s official YouTube channel, has already garnered millions of views, resonating with the patriotic spirit of the nation. The song’s visuals showcase Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force standing united in defense of the homeland.
A day before the operation, on February 26, 2019, India had staged a so-called “surgical strike,” a claim widely dismissed as propaganda. The following day, Pakistan’s swift and effective military response reshaped the strategic landscape of the region.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, alongside the service chiefs, lauded the armed forces for their professionalism during this pivotal moment in history. They reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to a strong defense posture, ensuring that any future aggression would be met with an equally resolute response.
