Israel launched a precision airstrike in Qatar’s capital, Doha, targeting senior Hamas leaders who were reportedly involved in ceasefire negotiations over the Gaza conflict.
Witnesses reported multiple explosions, with smoke rising over the Katara district and nearby areas. The strike is said to have focused on Hamas figures, including prominent negotiator Khalil al-Hayya.
Qatar strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly violation of sovereignty and international law.” The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres also denounced the strike as a “flagrant breach of Qatar’s territorial integrity.”
The incident has sparked international outrage, with analysts warning it could derail sensitive ceasefire talks and intensify instability across the region. Gulf states have also expressed grave concern over the escalation.
