Facing critical labour shortages across various professions, Italy has announced the availability of 151,000 work permits for foreign nationals, as reported by Y Axis on Monday.
Of these permits, 61,250 have been allocated for non-seasonal workers, with an additional 700 spots reserved for self-employed foreign workers.
The allocation process will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, meaning early applicants who meet the requirements can secure their permits swiftly.
The Italian government has delineated 89,050 quota spots for two categories of non-seasonal workers.
Beginning March 18, non-seasonal workers from nations with bilateral or migration agreements with Italy can begin applying for these permits.
For non-seasonal workers from countries without such agreements, the application window opens on March 21.
This move comes as Italy urgently requires highly skilled professionals, particularly in fields such as medicine, nursing, and physiotherapy.
The announcement signals Italy’s proactive approach to address its workforce needs and attract talent from across the globe.
