A 37-year-old office worker from Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, has been arrested after confessing to trespassing on over 1,000 homes, claiming it was a way to relieve stress. The suspect, a resident of Dazaifu City, was apprehended on November 25 after entering the property of a self-employed man in his garden around 1 p.m. The homeowner and his wife noticed the intruder and quickly alerted the police.
During questioning, the man openly admitted to his actions, stating, “Breaking into other people’s homes is a hobby of mine, and I’ve done it over 1,000 times.” He revealed that the thrill of potentially being caught was what motivated him, saying, “I get a rush wondering if someone will find me, enough to make my palms sweat, and it relieves stress.”
While no thefts have been reported in connection with these trespassing incidents, authorities are investigating whether the suspect could be linked to other unsolved cases in Fukuoka Prefecture. Local police are taking the matter seriously due to the psychological nature of the crimes.
The case has raised concerns among residents of the area, with many calling for enhanced security measures. Home invasions and repeated trespassing are rare occurrences in the region, particularly when no theft is involved, making the situation even more alarming for the community.
