In Jhelum, Punjab, a laborer was stunned to receive an electricity bill totaling Rs18 lakh for the month of July. This shocking development follows a previous month’s bill of Rs56,000, which he had struggled to pay.
Earning just Rs1,000 a day, the laborer expressed dismay at the impossible task of affording such a bill. WAPDA, the electricity provider, has acknowledged the issue and is investigating the billing error.
This incident has heightened concerns over steep electricity bills in Pakistan, affecting citizens’ financial stability.
