Jimmy Fallon, the charismatic host of The Tonight Show, made a triumphant return to late-night television on October 2, and he couldn’t contain his enthusiasm.
During the opening monologue of his first show back, Fallon couldn’t help but share his excitement with the audience. “I am so excited to be here. I am so excited. Seriously. I’m more excited than a guy seeing Beetlejuice with Lauren Boebert,” quipped Fallon, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Fallon’s humor continued as he compared his excitement level to that of a New York Jets fan during the first three plays of the season. “Everyone’s excited, today my dad called me up to say he can finally watch Kimmel again,” he joked.
Not one to miss the opportunity to entertain, Fallon also addressed the recent agreement between late-night hosts and their writers, ensuring they receive a fair deal. “You gotta hand it to them. Only the writers would spend all summer fighting to go back to the office,” he remarked with a smile.
Fallon went on to reveal that it had taken five months to reach the deal, and the stalemate finally ended when the studios realized they had to resolve it quickly. “It was either end this now or endure another three months of watching Suits,” Fallon quipped.
Reflecting on his return to the studio after a five-month hiatus, Fallon couldn’t help but notice the changes. “It was kind of weird coming back after being gone for five months; the studio was empty for so long, NBC converted it to a Spirit Halloween,” he joked.
In a heartfelt moment, Fallon expressed his love for his job and the audience. “I really love this job, I love doing it, I love telling jokes, I love interviewing people, I love making you laugh. I’m really lucky to have this show and I want to thank you all for supporting and choosing to have me in your bedrooms at nighttime,” he continued.
Fallon concluded by thanking his crew and staff, emphasizing that the writers were now back in the building, promising to deliver some fun shows in the days to come. It’s clear that Jimmy Fallon is thrilled to be back and is eager to bring laughter and entertainment to his viewers once again.
