England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, has stepped down from his leadership role following the team’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy. Buttler, who took over from Eoin Morgan in 2022, led England to T20 World Cup victory but faced criticism after disappointing performances in recent tournaments.
Announcing his decision, Buttler stated, “I’ve reached the end of the road as captain. It’s the right decision for me and the team.” Despite resigning, he will continue playing for England. The ECB is expected to name his successor soon, with vice-captain Harry Brook emerging as a strong contender.
