Karachi: After a brief spell of mild weather, Karachi is set to experience another winter chill beginning January 4, as temperatures are forecasted to drop to single digits, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD stated that a system entering Balochistan would bring rain and colder weather to the city, accompanied by icy winds. On Thursday, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5°C, with 58% humidity and winds blowing at six kilometers per hour from the north. The daily forecast predicts dry conditions with slightly cold winds leading up to the colder spell.
Nationwide Weather Updates:
- Punjab & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A rain-bearing system is expected to impact these provinces, with snowfall forecasted for Azad Kashmir.
- Fog and Smog: These are anticipated to disrupt visibility in various cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
- Tharparkar & Sindh: Severe cold is expected in these regions as temperatures continue to drop.
Extreme Winter Conditions in Northern Pakistan: Several northern areas are already in the grip of intense cold, with temperatures recorded as follows:
- Skardu and Gopis: -9°C
- Leh: -8°C
- Gilgit: -6°C
- Astor: -5°C
- Hunza and Chitral: -4°C
The PMD advises residents in affected areas to take precautions as the cold wave intensifies in the coming days.
